Splitrock Observatory Clear Sky Clock





This site is dedicated to those who love gazing at the night sky, and those who take the time to record it in pictures. My name is Gary Colwell and I have been an amateur astronomer for over 45 years. Most of those years have been learning and observing, observing and learning....and on and on. I am a member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Hamilton Centre in Waterdown Ontario. I am currently serving as the Observing Director and enjoy helping people discover the heavens.

In the last 5 years I have built my own observatory (see my website at http://home.cogeco.ca/~glcolwell  ). I also offer the use of the site and my cottage to those interested in bringing a few friends along for a weekend of observing. More details can be found at http://glcolwell.110mb.com   

I have begun the journey into astrophotography in just the last few years. It has been a HUGE learning curve, but most enjoyable.

So, please feel free to browse the site...it is always under some form of "construction" but I hope whether you are new to astrophotography....or a seasoned veteran, we can learn and glean from each other.
